   The Consultants shall demonstrate appropriate qualifications and skills necessary for the assignment as described above. He/she will have:
1. Master’s Degree in Development Studies/Communications/Public Policy/Journalism/Business Administration or equivalent;
2. Training and experience in development and use of information management systems and techniques;
3. At least 10 years work experience in the field of public information and communication, preferably in a development-oriented international organization;
4. Demonstrated experience in writing articles and text for professional publications;
5. Knowledge of and experience in the use of social media principles, preferably in a similar organization;
6. Demonstrated ability to manage online editorial processes and manage the packaging of online content is a strong advantage;
7. Excellent writing and editing skills, with a strong command of English, and a good knowledge of French;
8. Ability to convey complex ideas in simple and clearly written language;
9. Excellent knowledge and skills in computer applications such as MS Office, desktop and online publishing platforms;
10. Knowledge of graphic design and desktop publishing or experience in commissioning work from graphic designers and desktop publishers is a strong advantage;
11. Deep knowledge of international development issues;
12. Experience working in a multi-cultural environment;
13. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a team and interface between members of cross-functional teams;

The African Development Bank is the premier pan-African development institution, promoting economic growth and social progress across the continent having been founded in 1964. There are currently 80 member states of which 54 are African Regional Member Countries (or RMCs) and 26 are non-Regional Member Countries. The Bank’s development mandate is to deliver financial and technical support for transformative projects that will significantly reduce poverty through inclusive, sustainable and climate friendly economic growth. In order to sharply focus the objectives of the Ten Year Strategy (2013 – 2022) and ensure greater developmental impact, five major priority areas or High 5, all of which will accelerate the Bank’s delivery for Africa, have been identified for scaling up, namely; To Light up and Power Africa, Feed Africa, Industrialize Africa, Integrate Africa and Improve the quality of life for the people of Africa. Key to realizing the High 5 will be the appropriate mobilization of resources to finance projects in these priority areas. The Bank Group is therefore embarking on two separate but related work streams which will seek to:
Editorial Services: The core work activities involved will include:
i. The production of high-quality edited texts, correction of typographical errors, punctuation, spelling, grammar and vocabulary;
ii. making corrections to ensure consistency and clarity of expression and re-writing or drafting, where necessary in keeping with the spirit of the original text;
iii. Proofreading typeset texts and contributing to the design and production process as needed;
iv. Working closely with relevant needs and participating in task force meetings and providing relevant inputs where necessary.
Other activities will include but are not limited to the following:
1. Ensuring that text is well written, logically structured for the intended audience(s);
2. Ensuring the consistency and accurate use of terminology;
3. Ensuring that all references and sources are accurately and consistently captured;
4. Ensuring that figures, charts, graphs, boxes and tables etc. are correctly identified and cross referenced in the text;
5. Ensuring that the formatting is consistent;
6. Rectifying any typographical and/or mechanical errors in the text;
7. Ensuring relevant correlation between the list of acronyms and their occurrence throughout the text;
8. Ensure that footnotes are consistently numbered, appropriately positioned and formatted
