Bosnia and Herzegovina has applied for a loan from the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development ("the Bank") towards the cost of
reconstructing the railways infrastructure on key sections of the
railways of the north-south Corridor Vc and parallel to Corridor X. The
proposed project has a total estimated cost of EUR 140 million , proposed
to be financed by the Bank, the European Investment Bank and technical
assistance, and will require the procurement of the following goods,
works and services for:
(a) Track overhaul including reconstruction of the permanent way, track
formation and structures, station signalling and level crossings,
reconstruction of power traction substations and overhead contact line on
key sections of the railways on Corridor Vc and parallel to Corridor X;
(b) Consultancy services for detailed design, procurement assistance and
supervision of works;
(c) Consultancy services for assistance with railways restructuring.
Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of the loan from the Bank will
be subject to the Bank's Procurement Policies and Rules and will be open
to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank's loan will not be
used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, or for any
import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of
the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the
Charter of the United Nations or under a law or official regulation of
the Purchaser's country.
Tendering for any goods, works and services is expected to start in June
2005 and will run through to June 2006.
