The Arab Republic of Egypt has received a loan from the International
Development Association in the amount of USD 26,800,000 equivalent
toward the cost of the National Schistosomiasis Control Project, and
it intends to apply the proceeds of this loan to payments under the
contract for Procurement of computer hardware, software,communication
solutions and external professional training. Bidding for contracts
financed by the International Development Association will be governed
by the procurement rules specified in the World Bank Procurement under
IBRD Loans and IDA Credits[1]. It is open to all bidders from eligible
source countries as defined in the guidelines.

The project will support the development of a sustainable national
program to control schistosomiasis, Egypt's most important parasitic
disease. The project has three specific objectives: (i) to extend the
National Schistosomiasis Control Programme to five governorates in the
Eastern and Western regions of the Nile Delta; (ii) to modernize and
rehabilitate the existing program in Middle and Upper Egypt, and the
Suez Canal area in order to increase its efficiency and effectiveness;
and (iii) to support operational research and strengthen management of
the Ministry of Health's Endemic Diseases Control Department in order
to further increase operating efficiency and to control operating
costs.

The Ministry of Health and Population. now invites sealed bids from
eligible bidders for the following lots:

- Lot 1:

- Computers Hardware (Computer hardware)

- Lot 2:

- Software (Software)

- Lot 3:

- Communication Solution to Connetct 11 Governorates to Central
Level (Communications network)

- Lot 4:

- External Professional Training for IT Staff (Training services)

The delivery is to be accomplished in 3 months.

Bidding is allowed for whole lots only.

A margin of preference will be applied to domestically manufactured
goods.

Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and
inspect the bidding documents at the Ministry of Health and
Population. at the address below from 12:00 to 12:05. A complete set
of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders
on the submission of a written application to the address below and
upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of EGP 500. The method of payment
will be: cash or check. The document will be sent by Egypt Mail
Services (EMS) with an additional fee of US $20.

Bids must be delivered to the address below by 12:00 on 25 December
2001. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security equivalent to 2%
of the bid price. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in
the presence of bidders' representatives who choose to attend at the
address below on 25 December 2001 at 12:05.
