REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

PROGRAMA DE MODERNIZAÇÃO DO SETOR DE SANEAMENTO – PMSS
PROGRAM OF SUPPORT OF THE PMSS

Loan Agreement No.4292-BR

1. The Federative Republic of Brazil has received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for consulting services.
2. The services include: To promote and support planning and operational control of water supply and sanitation providers aiming to reach an efficient management in water and energy through: (i) studies, diagnostics, assessments and solution proposals for problems faced in institutional, administration, financial and operational fields; (ii) processes and methods through information technology some of them in free software; (iii) technical assistance from consultants to address solutions; (iv) measurement and assessment of electrical and hydraulical greatnesses, including the necessary tools; and (v) training for mangers and technicians. The Intended Completion Date for the whole of the services shall be: 14 (fourteen) months, after the date of commencement order issued by the Client.
3. The United Nations Development Programme - UNDP and the Secretaria Nacional de Saneamento Ambiental/MCidades, for intermediary of PMSS II (Project PNUD - BRA 99/030), now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the Services (brochures, description of experience in similar assignments, availability of appropriate skills among staff, curriculum vitae for the proposed Coordinator, availability of equipment and installations, etc.) Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.
4. A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by Bank Borrowers, January 1997.

6. Expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below by no later than July 14, 2005.
