Expressions of Interest

This request for expressions of interest follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business no. 611 on 31 July 2003.

The Ministry of Territorial Adjustment and Tourism of Albania (the Ministry), has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of the Albania Municipal Water and Wastewater Project, and it intends to apply part of the credit proceeds to payments for consulting services to be procured under this project.
The single five years management contract for operating the water and wastewater systems of the four cities (the Municipalities of Durrës, Fier, Lezhë and Sarandë) which intends to increase the efficiency of operation and development of these cities water supply, wastewater and stormwater drainage systems has been awarded to Berlinwasser International AG, the Operator, who will procure under the management contract consulting services on behalf of the Water Companies.
The consultant should evaluate and update existing designs, provide technical assistance and supervise rehabilitation and construction works of the water company’s infrastructure. The initial contract period will be one year, starting in March/April 2004, and can be extended on an annual basis to up to five years.
Berlinwasser International AG now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.
A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers, January 1997 (revised September 1997, January 1999 and May 2002.
Interested consultants may obtain further information at the Berlinwasser International AG office in Durrës at the address below from 0800 to 1600 hours (local time).
Expressions of interest must be delivered at the address below by January 23, 2004 and be marked “Expressions of interest for Consultant Services for the Albania Municipal Water and Wastewater Project - Management Services for the Durrës, Fier, Lezhë and Sarandë Water, Wastewater and Stormwater Drainage Systems”.
