Karst Ecosystem Conservation Project (KEC Project)

Procurement of monitoring equipment

This Invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in the Development Business No. 587 of 31 July 2002.

The Government of the Republic of Croatia has received a grant from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to payments under the contract for procurement of monitoring equipment.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Physical Planning, through the Project Implementation Unit, now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for:
Lot 1: GPS devices
Lot 2: Equipment for monitoring big mammals: IR sensors, GPS radiocollars,
GPS hand terminal and GSM groundstation
Lot 3: Digital cameras and microscopes for field and laboratory research
Lot 4: Detectors and recorder for bat monitoring
Lot 5: Thermal cycler for PCR
Lot 6: Automatic meteorological station
Lot 7: Monitoring equipment: Sherman traps and mist nets
Lot 8: Laboratory equipment and equipment for water monitoring

Delivery period: for Lots 1, 3, 5 and 7 is 45 days; and
for Lots 2, 4, 6 and 8 is 60 days.

Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, January 1995 (revised January and August 1996, September 1997, and January 1999), and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines.
Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding documents at the Project Implementation Unit of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Physical Planning at the address: Vukovarska 78/III, Room 318/13, KEC Project Implementation Unit, Tel. + 385 1 610 6547, Fax +385 1 610 6496, Email: kec@mzopu.hr , 10000 Zagreb, Croatia, from 10:00 to 12:00 a.m. from Monday through Friday, starting as of December 15th through December 19th 2003. A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders after December 15th 2003 on submission of a written application to the above mentioned address and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of US$ 70 or its equivalent in Croatian Kunas. The method of payments will be:

For payment in US$: in favor of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Physical Planning at PRIVREDNA BANKA ZAGREB, Račkoga 6, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia Account No. 702000-val-9182800-132344-1925 Swift address PBZGHR2X or

For payment in Croatian Kunas: at the selling exchange rate from the list of the National Bank of Croatia, prevailing on the day of payment - in favor of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Physical Planning at HRVATSKA POŠTANSKA BANKA Zagreb, Account No.2390001-1100016904

The document will be either sent by registered mail to the address indicated by the interested bidder or can be collected by the authorized representative of the bidder at the address given above.

Bids must be delivered to the address below by 12:00 hrs on January 27th, 2004. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of not less than 2% (two percent) of the total bid price in Croatian Kuna or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of bidders’ representatives who choose to attend at the address below at 12:00 hrs on January 27th, 2004.
