SPECIFIC PROCUREMENT NOTICE

Invitation for Bids

1. This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business No. 517 dated 31 August 1999, No. 540 dated 16 August 2000, No. 569 dated 31 October 2001, and No. 491 dated 30 September 2002.

2. The Republic of Croatia has received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development towards the cost of Health System Project and intends to apply part of the funds to cover eligible payments under the Contract for the reconstruction and upgrading of the General Hospital ”Dr. Tomislav Bardek” in Koprivnica, Croatia. The current closing date for the loan is June 30, 2004 and the Government of Croatia has requested the IBRD for additional 12 months extension till June 30, 2005.

3. Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, January 1995 (revised January and August 1996, September 1997 and January 1999), and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines.

4. The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the reconstruction and upgrading of the General Hospital ”Dr. Tomislav Bardek”, Koprivnica. The works include rehabilitation and upgrading of existing hospital buildings (about 6.000 m2) and construction of new hospital departments (about 3.300 m2). Interested bidders are encouraged to visit the site prior to submission of the bids. The PMU of the Ministry of Health will arrange for a pre-bid conference on site on December 1, 2003.

5. Bidding documents (and additional copies) will be available starting from November 20, 2003 and may be purchased at:

for a nonrefundable fee of HRK2.000 (two thousand) or its equivalent in a freely-convertible currency, for each set. The method of payment will be direct payment of full amount to specified account No. 2390001-1500001797 for payments in HRK, or account No. 702-840-4489 in the Raiffeisen Bank Austria d.d., Zagreb (SWIFT code: RZBHHR2X) for payments in foreign currency.

6. Bids shall be valid for a period of 90 days after Bid opening and must be accompanied by security of HRK1,600,000 (one million six hundred thousand) or its equivalent in a convertible currency, and shall be delivered to
