Save the Children (SC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, child rights organization working in Nepal since 1976 to improve the quality of life of children. Save the Children Organizations working in Nepal were unified as "Save the Children" in Nepal" from 1st April 2009. SC in collaboration with International Development Enterprises and Mission East in collaboration with five local NGOs in Humla, Mugu, Rukum, Rolpa and Bank in the mid western region are currently implementing the Food Security Initiatives (FSI) project With funding from the European Union, the project aims to address food shortages and price rise during the 22 month project period starting January 2010- 3 I to October 2011.The project objective is to reduce vulnerability of targeted families and their children to soaring food prices and food insecurity. The specific objective is to facilitate in food production and explore alternative income sources to support nutrition for children and their families.
SC invites EOI (Expression of Interest) from interested organizations to conduct market survey, design youth employment Programme and train 210 youths from 330 FGs in 36VDCs and help them to formulate business plans and facilitate in establishing linkages with employers.
Terms of Reference
Develop and design tools, methods, process and guidelines to carry out Rapid Market Assessment to assess and analyze various trades for vocational training, assess local market situation, potential employers and entrepreneurs for trades and employment. Review existing assessment from relevant ongoing projects and service providers like EIG, F-Skill, FNCCI and CTEVT on assessing needs, markets and lessons in the working districts. Market assessment should cover vocations and micro enterprises and business development plans must include a) potential and priority traders for vocational training 2) the number and locations for formal course and apprenticeships.
Additionally, the designing and development of the training packages for apprentices must be based on the RMA findings/recommendations. The ToR also requires developing detailed plan of action for I) conducting vocational training 2) employment/job placement (>2 months) 3) post training follow up and provisions for technical support to local mentors, supervisors and monitoring apprentices and 4) training follow up team composition; 5) Programme and budget for each category of action. Criteria: 1) At least two years of experience in related field 2) Should register in VAT/Pan. yearly financial audit, timely renewal of the organization 3) Competent and qualified team composition, name and CVs 4) Methodology 5) Timeline 6) Budget 7) Submit the organizational profile with expression of interest (EOI)
After evaluation only short-listed organizations (i.e. those meeting the above minimum selection criteria) will be contacted and asked to submit a full project proposal with financial and technical proposal in support of their application. Organizations interested should submit an Expression of Interest letter addressing to the Save the Children, Programme Coordinator Livelihood in a sealed envelope marked as "Expression of Interest" at following address no later than September 10,2010,5:00.
