Eligibility of Bidders:   The Tenderer must meet the following conditions amongst others, details of which are indicated in the Tender Documents:
• Must have experience under contracts in the role of contractor, subcontractor, or management contractor for at least the last five [5] years prior to the applications submission deadline, and with activity in at least nine (9) months in each year.
• Participation as contractor, management contractor, or subcontractor, in at least two (2) contracts within the last five (5) years, each with a value of at least Kenya Shillings Six hundred million (Kshs. 600,000,000.00), that have been successfully and substantially completed and that are similar to the proposed Works.
• Minimum experience in the following key activities: The construction of at least one (1) water Treatment plant of capacity not less than 45,000m3/day, raw water Intake Plant of capacity not less than 50,000m3 / day in the last two years and the construction of at least 1,000 linear metres of raw water pipelines diameter at least 300mm in the last 3 years.
• Must have a minimum average annual turnover of Kshs 150,000,000.00 in the water industry, calculated as total certified payments received for contracts in progress or completed, within the last five (5) years

Kisumu Water Supply and Sanitation Project-: Package 2- Construction of Kajulu Intake, Water Treatment Works and Raw Water Pipelines


1. This Invitation to Tender for this project also appears in Tender Notice of DG Market of 26th August, 2010

The Government of the Republic of Kenya (GOK), has received a credit and grant from Agence Francaise de Developpement (herein after called (“AFD”) towards the cost of Kisumu Water Supply and Sanitation Project (herein after called “KWSSP”) and intends to apply a portion of the credit with counterpart funding from the GOK towards eligible payments under the contract for the Construction of Kisumu Water Supply and Sanitation Project-: Package 2- Construction of Kajulu Intake, Water Treatment Works and Raw Water Pipelines

2. Tendering is open to all Tenderers who are also registered with Ministry of Water & Irrigation for Water Works in Category A.

3. The Lake Victoria South Water Services Board under the Ministry of Water and Irrigation of Government of Kenya, now invites sealed Tenders from eligible bidders for works whose scope shall include but not limited to the following :-

Package 2- Construction of Kajulu Intake, Water Treatment Works and Raw Water Pipelines


• Construction of 10m high Weir across River Kajulu with Intake structure.
• Construction of twin DN 300 steel raw water mains from Kajulu Intake to the Treatment Plant, length 1,150m.
• Construction of Kajulu Treatment Works of capacity 48,000 m3/day consisting of Inlet, Flocculation Chamber, Sedimentation Tanks and Rapid Sand Filters.
• Construction to completion of road and parking within the Kajulu Treatment Works.
• Kajulu Buildings and Electromechanical Works

4. A complete set of Tender documents may be purchased by interested eligible Tenderers on the submission of a written application to the below indicated address and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of Kshs. 5,000.00 (Kenya Shillings Five Thousand only), payable to Lake Victoria South Water Services Board by way of a crossed Bankers cheque , bank draft or cash. Additional sets may be purchased at the same price.

5. The applications to purchase the Tender documents should indicate clearly their physical and postal address, telephone and telefax numbers, email address which may be used for correspondences prior to and after submission of tenders.

6. Pre-Tender conference at LVSWSB is scheduled to take place on 10th September, 2010 beginning from 10.00am and bidders are invited to attend at their own cost.

7. The Tenderer must meet the following conditions amongst others, details of which are indicated in the Tender Documents:

8. Tenders shall be valid for a period of 120 days after Tender opening and must be accompanied by Tender security of 2% of the Tender Sum, in an acceptable form, and shall be delivered at the address indicated in item 5 above.on or before 10.00 am on 24th September, 2010, at which time they will be publicly opened in the presence of the Tenderers who choose to attend.

9. Tenders will be opened in the LVSWSB conference room immediately thereafter in the presence of Tenderers who choose to attend.

10. Lake Victoria South Water Services Board is not bound to accept the lowest or any tender it receives.
