The Government of Egypt hasapplied for a loan from the InternationalBank, for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) toward the cost of the EG-Wind PowerDevelopment Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for the constructionof about 280 km Suez Gulf/Samalaut 500 kV double circuit OHTL- Loan No.: 79270 and Project ID No: P113416. The Egyptian ElectricityTransmission Company (EETC) intends to prequalify contractors and/or firms for single responsibility for design, supply,construction, installation and testing of all components (towers, conductors, insulators, ground wire, protection, OPGW and civilworks). It is expected that the invitation for bid will be made in March, 2011. Prequalification will beconducted through prequalification procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDACredits, May 2004, revised October 2006 (Current Edition), and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries, as defined inthe guidelines.
