Invitation for Expressions of Interest

Consultancy Services for Preparation of Feasibility, Conceptual and Preliminary Design Study, for Storm Water Drainage System (SWDS) for Mukalla City

1. The Government of Yemen, represented by the Ministry of Public Works and Highways (MOPWH), received additional financing from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of the Flood Protection And Emergency Reconstruction Project (FPERP). The Government intends to apply part of the proceeds of this Grant for consultancy services for the preparation of Feasibility, Conceptual and Preliminary Design Study, for Storm Water Drainage System (SWDS) for Mukalla City. The assignment includes preparation of an Integrated Storm Water Management Plan for Al- Mukalla City, identifying priority structural and non-structural measures (institutional, urban planning and building regulations, etc), and feasibility study for priority Surface water and storm water collector drainage network including side surface drainage of Public Main Street measures. The assignment is expected to be completed within a 6 months period

2. On behalf of MOPWH, the Flood Protection And Emergency Reconstruction Project,
Project coordination Unit (PCU) now invites eligible international consulting firms to express interest in providing the services mentioned above. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, experience in the region and in Yemen if any, and availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants are strongly encouraged to associate with local firms/consultants. Short listed consultants will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers dated May 2004 (revised in October 2006).

3. Expressions of interest must be delivered by mail or email to the address below by August 25, 2010, 11AM local time. Further information may also be obtained during office hours from 9:00AM to 2:00 PM local time Saturdays through Wednesdays or via the email address given below.
