Scope of work General
(a) The Contractor shall take into consideration that each pumping station shall be kept in service while undertaking any work in relation to this Contract and that the Contractor is responsible for ensuring that sewage inflows are diverted from the Site in a safe reliable manner in order to carry out the rehabilitation and upgrading works described in the Project Specification. The Scope of Works describes the minimum specific provisions for each pumping station to facilitate keeping it in service.
(b) The Contractor shall be responsible for carrying out a surge analysis of rising mains based on the specific characteristics of the equipment, pipes, etc to be installed using a qualified hydraulic modeller acceptable to The Engineer to confirm the appropriateness of pipeline and pumping equipment to be provided by the Contractor. (For reference only: HR Wallingford PLC of the UK undertook the design surge analysis). The Contractor shall submit a surge analysis report to The Engineer for its review and approval prior to procuring surge protection equipment such as air valves, non-return valves and pressure vessels (if needed).
(c) The Contractor is deemed to have visited and inspected the site and familiarised himself with the tender documents, existing site conditions and services at tender stage and undertaken appropriate due diligence in preparing its Tender. No allowance will be granted and/or allowed by the Engineer to the Contractor in respect of any omission or misinterpretation on the part of the Contractor.
(d) The Contractor shall obtain the existing services record drawings from KAHRAMMA and various utility services departments (i.e. Q. Tel, CDD etc).
(e) While every care has been taken to fully identify all miscellaneous pipes, 11KV, 415V multi core/415 single core cables, fittings, etc, the Contractor shall be responsible for making sure that all such necessary pipes, cables, fittings etc have been properly identified, supplied and installed so as to form a fully and properly functioning facility at each of the pumping stations covered under this Contract.
(f) The works shall be generally deemed to include all work which can be reasonably be inferred as necessary for the proper functioning of each pumping station and shall include all builder’s work in relation to: sleeves, inserts, chasing in walls, plastering, making good surfaces, etc.
(g) The Contractor shall be responsible for preparing shop, as built and final record drawings relating to the civil, structural and architectural aspects of the Works. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and ICA record drawings shall be provided by the Contractor as required by QCS 2007 Section 1 Part 21 Clause 21.4.
(h) During the course of the Works, the Contractor shall maintain a detailed record of all works undertaken in order to facilitate preparation of accurate as constructed record drawings and to ensure that these drawings are in all respects a true record of the completed works.
(i) The Contractor shall provide The Engineer drawings and a photocopy of each schedule correctly and neatly modified in red ink to truly represent the Works as constructed. These shall be submitted to The Engineer for approval before the Contract Completion Date.
(j) If any drawing is not approved, it will be returned to the Contractor with marked indications of the additional information and/or correction required.
(k) The Contractor shall submit to The Engineer for approval all drawings and data including samples, calculations, schedules, equipment catalogues, certifications and other submittals as specified in the Project Specification and the Contract Documents.
(l) In addition the Contractor shall complete the Infrastructure Affairs Network Record Sheets in the prescribed format but not necessarily limited to, the following Record Sheets as applicable in both hard copy and electronic copy in a widely used Data Exchange Format (DXF) textual (i.e. mbd.xls or similar approved) format. Electronic format record sheets shall be obtained from Ashghal or its nominated representative.
(m) The Contractor shall only use approved suppliers as designated in the Project Specification Part 3 "Approved Suppliers" to supply materials and products to be incorporated in the works or in the execution of the works.
(n) The Contractor shall coordinate all other trades working on site including finishing’s sub-contractor, structural, mechanical, civil, landscaping, etc. and allow for the cost of providing coordination and supervision in the tendered prices
for the works.
(o) The Contractor shall be fully responsible for any damages to the existing services including repairs, and penalties imposed by the affected parties etc and for removing any site obstacles such as underground cables, pipes, civil works etc. which is obstructing his work on site.
