Overview :

UNDP’s Human Resources Strategy document was launched by the UNDP Administrator in October 2009. One of the objectives of the policy was to establish candidate pools for a more professional and transparent selection and recruitment to core management positions in UNDP and provide for a more effective mechanism to address succession planning needs.

A candidate pool is a qualified, pre-assessed and pre-approved group of candidates suitable to perform the functions of a substantially similar set of rotational posts in a given job family.

The functions to be performed by posts covered by a given candidate pool shall be defined with reference to UNDP job families and the UNDP Competency Framework [link]. The posts to be filled by candidates from a given candidate pool should have substantially similar competencies, to ensure a likely matching of candidates within a defined set of posts.
