Background

In 2008, UNICEF Supply Division (SD) Innovation Business Report was written and designed as a strategic start up tool to engage the organization in how UNICEF approaches innovation in broad. The Innovation Business Report has served the purpose to align both SD’s Innovation Team and management in how and within which measures SD should focus innovation.
UNICEF Innovation strategy as a whole engages partners from both NGO’s, Academia and Private Business, as well as the different concrete initiatives tends to cross the traditional organizational structures and functions.

A next step to convene and engage partners in innovation for children is to communicate what we do, how we do and who does. The appropriate tool for communicating this is a UNICEF Innovation Handbook.
The handbook should be a tool to both external and internal clarification and inspiration and should be aligned with both UNICEF Innovation Communication Strategy and an Update of the 2008 Innovation Business Report.

The 2010 UNICEF Innovation Handbook will be an internal tool for staff and supervisors to get a better understanding of UNICEF innovation’s organization, process, challenges and partners.
The 2008 UNICEF Innovation Business Report was designed by an external graphic designer, which gave the report an interesting, visual attractive, user friendly and fresh expression.
