Tenderer: KfW on behalf of the Afghan Ministry of Urban Development (MUD)

Project measures: Construction of urban water supply systems in towns of the five Northern provinces of Baghlan, Balkh, Badakhshan, Kunduz und Takhar.

Requested Consultant services: Phase1: Preparation mission including inventory, identification of towns and proposed measures, development of a concept for fast track implementation. Optional Phase 2: Imple-mentation of the programme including detailed field reconnaissance, surveys, detailed design, drawings, tender documents, management of procurement and construction, quality control, supervision, technical and financial management, monitoring and reporting.

Submission of technical and financial proposals: Documents have to be submitted as stipulated in the tender document on August 16, 2010 before 18:00 lo-cal time at:

The assignment of experienced Consultants will follow the latest version of the „Guidelines for Assignment of Consultants in Financial Co-operation Projects“ (refer to homepage of KfW development bank www.kfw-entwicklungsbank.de). It is foreseen to award the con-tract for Phase 1 to a Consultant firm/Consortium ex-perienced in urban water supply, detailed design, ten-der document preparation, tendering, contract man-agement, supervision and quality control. Adequate background in (post)crisis / disaster countries, knowl-edge of German Development Cooperation and ex-perience in Afghanistan and the region is required. The minimum annual turnover in the a.m. fields must be 7 million EUR.
