1. This invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared on the United Nations Development Business Website on 5th October 2009.

2. The Government of Tanzania has received loans from the African Development Fund (ADF), and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to finance jointly the above-mentioned project and intends to apply part of the proceeds of these loans to cover eligible payments under the six civil works contracts for which this Invitation for Bids is issued.

3. The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS), an Executing Agency of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, hereinafter referred to as “the Employer” now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the upgrading of Iringa – Dodoma and Namtumbo - Tunduru roads to bitumen standard of 7.0 m wide surfaced carriageway with 1.5 m shoulders on either side. The two roads have been divided into three lots as indicated below:-
