Schistosomiasis Control Project
General Procurement Notice

The Republic of Yemen has applied for financing in the amount of US$25,000,000 equivalent from the World Bank toward the cost of the Schistosomiasis Control Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, related services and consulting services to be procured under this Project.

The Project will include the following two components:

Component 1: Preventive Chemotherapy for Schistosomiasis Control (estimated US$22.65 million). This component will support two anthelminthic drug delivery strategies (campaign-based preventive chemotherapy using fixed and temporary sites, and routine preventive chemotherapy), as well as technical assistance to support implementation, monitoring and evaluation of these strategies, training and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) and social mobilization activities to support the efficacious application of these strategies.

Component 2: Independent Monitoring/Audit and Project Administration (estimated US$2.35 million). This component will support activities related to the independent monitoring of project targets and audit of project campaigns. The component will include support for mid-term and end-of-project evaluations (which will include follow up of longitudinal cohorts), as well as support for baseline, mid-term, and end-of-project parasitological surveys for prevalence mapping used for classification and reclassification of endemic districts. The component will also provide project administration support, through a Project Administration Unit (PAU) within the MOPHP; and include procurement of Goods and Consultancy Services for the Project Components.

Procurement of contracts financed by the World Bank will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits dated May 2004, Revised May 2010, and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers dated May 2004, Revised May 2010.

Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank’s international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures and for contracts for consultancy services will be announced in English, as they become available, in UN Development Business and dgMarket and in at least two newspaper of national circulation in Yemen.

Interested eligible bidders who wish to be included on the mailing list to receive invitations to bid under ICB procedures, and interested consultants who wish to receive a copy of the advertisement requesting expressions of interest for large-value consultants' contracts, or those requiring additional information, should contact the address below.
