I.M. Regia Transport Electric, municipally owned trolleybus company (the
"Company) of the City of Chisinau, applied for a loan from the European
Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to finance immediate
rehabilitation needs including safety upgrades.
The Project is co-financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development (EBRD), European Investment Bank (EIB) and Neighbourhood
Investment Facility (NIF).
The proposed project, which has a total estimated cost of EUR 13 million,
will require the procurement of the following works and services: (i) 90
new trolleybuses and spare parts for the Company, and (ii) maintenance
equipment.
Tendering is expected to start in the third quarter of 2010.
Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of loans from EBRD, NIF and EIB
will be subject to the Bank's Procurement Policies and Rules and will be
open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank's loan will not
be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, or for any
import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of
the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter
of the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the
Purchaser's country.
