SECTION II: OBJECT OF THE CONTRACT
II.1) DESCRIPTION

II.1.3) The notice involves: A public contract.
II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): The grounds
maintenance contract is for the upkeep of parks and open spaces,
cemeteries, play areas, sports grounds, pavilions, highway verges,
schools, sponsored roundabouts and property sites.
The work comprises grass cutting, shrub bed maintenance, litter bin
emptying, hedge cutting, sports pitch maintenance and attendant duties,
play area maintenance, pavilion cleaning and various other grounds
maintenance duties.
The Tender process will consist of three options:
1.Grounds Maintenance for the Northern Area of the Borough only.
2.Grounds Maintenance for the Southern Area of the Borough only.
3.Grounds Maintenance for the combined Northern and Southern Areas of the
Borough.
Options 1 and 2 are mutually exclusive from Option 3.For clarification if
Options 1 and 2 are taken up there will be 2 separate contracts and if
Option 3 is taken up only 1 contract will be awarded.
The contractor will provide all manpower, management, resources, equipment
and depot facilities.
The initial contract will be for a period of 5 years from 1.4.2011 to
31.3.2016 with the option to extend for up to a further 2 years subject to
satisfactory performance and mutual agreement of the parties.

required for 15 % of the annual value of the contract. (The Bondsman to be
approved by the Council) or if the successful Tenderer is a subsidiary
company a Parent Company Guarantee may be acceptable at the Council's sole
discretion.

reference to the relevant provisions regulating them: Payment will be
monthly in arrears and will normally be within 28 days of receipt of a
properly rendered invoice.
