contractor(s) with the capability of working successfully to support
regional engagement, and to provide continuing professional development
(CPD) activity for teaching and learning within the STEM subjects
(Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in the learning and
skills sector.

II.2) QUANTITY OR SCOPE OF THE CONTRACT
II.2.1) Total quantity or scope: Contracts will be awarded for 10 months
initially (from 1.6.2010 to 31.3.2011) with options to extend for up to a
further 24 months. The cumulative value of the initial nine contracts will
be a total of approximately 1 350 000 GBP (including VAT). If the ‘options
to extend’ are taken up, and the budget is available, we forecast that the
cumulative total value of this opportunity across the 34 months of the
contract will be in the region of GBP 4 050 000.
II.2.2) Options: Yes.
Description of these options: Contracts will be awarded for 10 months
initially (from 1.6.2010 to 31.3.2011) with options to extend for up to a
further 24 months.

VI.3) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Learning and Skills Improvement Service
(LSIS) aims to accelerate the drive for excellence in the learning and
skills sector, building the sector’s own capacity to design, commission
and deliver improvement and strategic change. This will help realise our
vision that every learner acquires the skills, knowledge and appetite for
learning, living and working and that every provider is valued by their
community and employers for their contribution to sustainable social and

LSIS is seeking contractor(s) with the capability of working successfully
to support regional engagement, and to provide continuing professional
development (CPD) activity for teaching and learning within the STEM
subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in the
learning and skills sector.
Contracts will be awarded for 10 months initially (from 01 June 2010 to 31
March 2011) with options to extend for up to a further 24 months. The
cumulative value of the initial nine contracts will be a total of
approximately GBP 1,350,000 (including VAT). If the ‘options to extend’
are taken up, and the budget is available, we forecast that the cumulative
total value of this opportunity across the 34 months of the contract will
be in the region of GBP 4,050,000.
This opportunity is being tendered as nine separate contracts, each
embracing one Government Office Region in England.

2. East of England
3. London
4. North East
5. North West
6. South East
7. South West
8. West Midlands
9. Yorkshire and The Humber
Tenderers may submit tenders for just one region (of their choice), or all
nine regions, or any combination in between. When submitting for more than
one region, a discrete, independent tender for each region will be
required, including a discrete price for each region. Whilst we have given
guidance here on the cumulative contract value of this programme, it is up
to the tenderer to submit their price proposal for the specific region(s)
of their choice.
