U-66, EXTERIOR RENOVATIONS, NEW CLADDING AND WINDOWS AT NRC UPLANDS CAMPUS

The work under this contract covers the partial exterior renovations, new cladding and windows of existing National Research Council Building U-66, and related miscellaneous work, the following is a brief description:
- Complete scaffolding to the exterior perimeter of the south, east, north and west facades of the U-66 two (2) storey building administration south wing.
- Removal of existing windows including louver overhang sunshades, canopies, garage door, asphalt, sodding and related work.
- New exterior re-facing wall system comprising air/vapour barrier membrane, curtain wall framing structure, wall insulation, modular cladding Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) panel system including canopy soffits and fascias, some Exterior Insulation Finish Systems (EIFS) and acrylic coating, canopy roof membranes, flashings, carpentry, and related work.
- New aluminum curtain wall windows, glazing, blinds, and related work.
- New overhead garage door, and related work.
- Related miscellaneous work; interior and exterior painting, trenching and backfilling, asphalt pavement, concrete curbing and pads, modular retaining walls, landscaping, etc.
- Minor mechanical work: Mechanical removal and modification to accommodate new work, replacement of some existing perimeter heating cabinets including all related new work.
- Minor electrical work: Electrical removal and modification to accommodate new work including all related new work.

MANDATORY SITE VISIT

It is mandatory that the bidder attends one of the site visits at the designated date and time.
At least one representative from proponents that intend to bid must attend the scheduled site visit.

The site visits will be held March 4th, 2010 and March 10th, 2010. Meet Mr. Joe Oliveras at 9:30 a.m., Building MU-66, Main Entrance, Uplands Campus, 1 Levy Street, Ottawa, Ontario. Bidders who, for any reason, cannot attend at the specified date and time will not be given an alternative appointment to view the site and their tenders, therefore, will be considered as non-responsive.
NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

As proof of attendance, at the site visit, the Contracting Authority will have an Attendance Form which MUST be signed by the bidder’s representative. It is the responsibility of all bidders to ensure they have signed the Mandatory Site Visit Attendance form prior to leaving the site. Proposals submitted by bidders who have not attended the site visit or failed to sign the Attendance Form will be deemed non-responsive.

Firms intending to submit tenders on this project should obtain tender documents through the MERX services provider. Addenda, when issued, will be available from the MERX service provider. Firms that elect to base their bids on tender documents obtained from other sources do so at their own risk and will be solely responsible to inform the tender calling authority of their intention to bid. Tender packages are not available for distribution on the actual day of tender closing.

The plans and specifications are available for viewing at the offices of the Construction Associations in Ottawa, Toronto, Mississauga, Ontario.

The Crown retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any procurement. The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
