SECTION II: OBJECT OF THE CONTRACT
II.1) DESCRIPTION

II.1.3) The notice involves: A public contract.
II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): Essex County
Council is seeking to secure a range of repair and maintenance services
for its recycling centres for household wastes sites (RCHW). The services
being sought are bulk waste container repair, refurbishment and
maintenance, waste compaction equipment repair and maintenance and general
welding, fabrication and engineering repairs and maintenance.
In total there are twenty three RCHW sites located throughout
administrative Essex and there are a varying number of waste containers
located within these twenty three recycling centres. The total number of
containers is just over five hundred.
The Council also have thirteen dedicated waste compactor machines located
at ten sites. General maintenance duties at the sites may include but not
be limited to, for example general welding and metal fabrication and/or
painting of site equipment such as access steps.
This requirement will be tenderd in four lots for:
1) Bulk waste container repair, refurbishment and maintenance,
2) Waste compaction equipment repair and maintenance and
3) General welding, fabrication and engineering repairs and maintenance.
The fourth lot will be a combined lot comprising all services of the other
three lots.
The Council reserve the right to award either individual contracts for
Lots one to three or alternatively a single contract for lot four where
this is considered to offer the best advantage to the Authority.
The Council is seeking to award an initial one year contract, or
contracts, with the option to extend for a further one plus one years.

Borough, Colchester Borough, Epping Forest District, Harlow District,
Maldon District, Rochford District, Tendring District, Uttlesford
District, Southend-on-Sea Borough and Thurrock Councils) and other public
sector organisations and bodies in Essex (including schools), who may at a
later date adopt the terms and conditions of this arrangement.
