II.1.4) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): The contract is
for the acquisition of information on pupil progress to assist schools and
Local Education Authorities (LEAs) in the production of targets and school
performance measures, and for other purposes, including informing policy
development and monitoring. The main services the contractor will be
expected to provide are:
(a) match data at pupil level from the Pupil Level Annual School Census,
National Curriculum teacher assessments, public examinations and
attendance for all pupils in maintained and special schools in Wales;
(b) calculate value added models for pupil progress between key stages and
examination results, taking into account previous performance and various
socio-economic factors;
(c) provide the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) with school and LEA
summary reports, showing estimated performance for the current year and
predicted performance for future years;
(d) provide WAG with pupil level estimates of future performance for key
stage 2 to 3 and key stage 2 to 4.
