Naval Facilities Engineering Command NorthwestSafety Symposium The NAVFAC Northwest Safety Symposium is being held at the Naval Undersea Museum, Keyport, Washington on March 11, 2010 from 8:00am to 4:00pm. The attire for this event is business casual. While the overall mishap rates for NAVFAC Northwest employees and our contractor partners are much lower than industry averages, in recent months we have experienced numerous significant near misses on our contract work sites, including a severe safety mishap. NAVFAC Northwest seeks to collaborate with our construction partners on best management practices to improve overall safety awareness and safety performance. During the full day symposium, we will have discussions centered on maintaining a safe working environment. Contractor partners will speak on their experiences with sustaining a successful safety program and share innovative safety methodologies. We will also discuss ways NAVFAC currently defines standards of safety performance used by source selection boards and ways we might improve the process for future acquisitions. Time will be allotted for a facilitated discussion. Through open and frank discussion, we will reaffirm our mutual commitment to safety on our jobsites as well as openly share innovative ideas between government and contractor partners Firms are limited to two representatives per company as space is limited. Target representation is the company principle and a safety professional. Although seating is not reserved, we are requesting an email confirming attendance.
