1. This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in dgMarket, on August 7, 2009 and October 12, 2009.

2. The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a grant from the International Development Association toward the cost of Protection of Basic Services-Phase II, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to payments under the contract for Procurement of Pharmaceuticals for Ministry of Health.

3. The Pharmaceuticals Fund & Supply Agency (PFSA) as procurement agent of the Ministry of Health now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply of Pharmaceuticals.

4. Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines.

5. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from Pharmaceuticals Fund & Supply Agency (PFSA) and inspect the bidding documents at the address given below from 8:30AM -12:30PM and 1:30 PM -5:30PM from Monday to Friday.

6. A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of Ethiopian Birr 200.00 (Two Hundred Birr) or equivalent in a freely convertible currency. Those who want the bid document to be sent by a Courier Service shall pay an additional amount of ETB 515.00 or equivalent in a freely convertible currency for a courier service charge or send a pre paid Courier Service Coupon. The method of payment will be in cash, or Cashier's Payment Order (C.P.O.), or direct deposit to PFSA A/C No 01246 730145 with the Construction & Business Bank, Piassa Branch.


7. Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 2:00 P.M. March 30, 2010. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of minimum 2% of bid price or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders’ representatives who choose to attend at the address below at 2:30 P.M March 30, 2010.
