This synopsis is being provided for information purposes only. NASA Goddard hasselected Fibertek Inc for the Laser Systems Engineering Services (LSES) contract,NNG09CP09C. This is an Indefinite Delivery-Indefinite Quantity Cost-Plus Award Feecontract valued at $35 million. The period of performance is five years. The NAICS Codeis 336419 and the Size Standard is 1,000 employees. The estimated value of the proposed task order #8 is $3,300,000. The anticipated periodof performance is 29 January 2010 to 31 Oct 2010. NASA Goddard intends to award Task Order #8 to contract NNG09CP09C, IAW the AmericanRecovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, PL 111-5. Task order #8 is Compact, High PRF,Wavelength-Controlled, Micropulse MOPA Laser System Brassboard using Self-imaging PlanarWaveguide Technology. The scope of task order #8 is the development of an aircraftdemonstrator/simulator instrument for the Ice, Cloud and Land Elevation Satellite 2(ICESat-2) instrument requires data system electronics and transmit/receive optics. Thebaseline platform for the ICESat-2 aircraft demonstrator/simulator instrument is a NASAhigh-altitude research aircraft to permit evaluation of numerous science and engineeringtrades. As such, the Project requires an autonomous (i.e., capable of unattendedoperation) photon-counting data system suited for such an application and based onexisting design (i.e., available on the shortest possible schedule). This task involvesbuilding and delivering an autonomous data system that can be directly integrated withthe airborne instrument. This task also involves delivery of optical components andopto-mechanical components for the instrument. This work will be performed at thecontractor's facility.This document and any other related documents to this procurement will be available overthe Internet.
