II.3) SHORT DESCRIPTION OF NATURE AND QUANTITY OR VALUE OF SUPPLIES OR
SERVICES: Argyll and Bute Council and NHS Highland work in partnership to
provide an Integrated Equipment Service(IES). The IES is committed to
enabling its citizens with the ability to maintain maximum independence at
home. Part of this strategy involves the provision of community based
moving and handling equipment such as hoists and ceiling track hoists to
homes of Council Tenants and Owner Occupiers who have been assessed by
Argyll and Bute Occupational Therapists. There is a legal requirement that
all new and existing moving and handling equipment is regularly inspected
and maintained as stipulated by the LOLER regulations. Argyll and Bute
Council seeks to contract the activities of maintenance and inspection out
to external organisations. There is a possibility that the scope may be
divided into two lots i.e. maintenance and/or inspection. It is
anticipated that the contract will be awarded for a three year period with
a 1 year option to extend.
