Works contract forecast

5. Contracting authority: The European Union, represented by the European
Commission, on behalf of and for the account of the beneficiary country,
Kabul, ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF AFGHANISTAN.
6. Description of the contract: This project focuses on river bank
protection, mainly retaining walls and deflection spurs as well as wash
crossings and controlled inlets in 8 mainly traditional earthen canals in
the Taloqan and lower Kunduz sub-basin of the Panj-Amu basin in
Afghanistan. The project is a consolidation project to complete or improve
works carried out during previous contracts in the same canals. The
project contains approximately 40 sub-projects, all prioritised by water
user associations, active in these canals.
