II.1.4) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): The Croydon
Cultural Venue Options Study will review potential for the development of
the Fairfield Halls as part of the College Green site in central Croydon.
The study will address: supply and demand, optimum type and scale, optimum
configuration and form, design, deliverability and viability, cost, and
outline funding strategy.
The main outputs of the project will be:
a) Identification of what type, form and scale of facilities should be
developed to provide the optimum cultural venue and community meeting
space capable of undertaking a range of performing arts activities,
productions and events, taking account of current and future market
trends, bearing in mind product availability and competition from other
facilities in both south London, and central London, and the southeast of
England, as well as trends in community needs and uses;
b) The development of costed outline designs to show how the provision of
these facilities could be achieved. The Council seeks applications from
individual companies as well as organisations that wish to lead a group of
specialist sub-contractors.
