The Government ofGhana has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the Urban Transport Project (UTP), andintends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the contract for the consultancy services for Revised Planning Scheme along The Kwame Nkrumah Circle # Nsawam Road Corridor and the Preparation OfA Redevelopment Scheme for the CBD-Mallam#Kasoa Road Corridor The Kwame Nkrumah Circle#Nsawam Road and the CBD-Mallam#Kasoa Road Corridorsare two (2) major arterials that carry large volumes of traffic into and out of the city of Accra. Over the past few decades those corridors have witnessedmassive expansion in economic activities and this has impacted heavily on the level of service on these roads. With the ongoing rehabilitation and expansion works on theseroads, the corridors arealready witnessing massive influx of economic activities and these are changing the character and functionsof the entire road corridors interms of accessibility. The expected outcome of this Consultancy is to: i) To rationalize land useactivities along the CBD- Kwame Nkrumah Circle#Nsawam Road and the CBD-Mallam#Kasoa Road Corridors and the arterial roads leadingto the corridors from the adjoining communities to make for an efficient land use transport interaction. ii) Prepare measures for developmentcontrols alongthe corridors. iii) Build the capacity of relevant stakeholders and affectedMetropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to manage the redevelopment plans The total number ofkey staff for the assignment is estimated as seven, consisting of a Project Manager/Urban Planning expert, two Urban Planners, twoMunicipal Engineers, Transportation Planner, Social Scientist/Environmentalist. It is estimated thata total of forty two (42)man-months of key professional staff input would be required for the service over a period of 10 months. The Department ofUrban Roads now inviteseligible Consultants with the relevant experience to indicate their interest in providing the services.Interested Firms must provide the necessary company profiles, information, and relevant experience indicating that theireligibility and qualification to perform the services.Firms are free to associate with each other for this purpose. A consultant will beselected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by WorldBank Borrowers, May 2004 (revised October 2006).
