The Gift Coordinators Office of the Library of Congress requires the services of fine arts shipper to transport approximately 15-20 donor gifts per year, ranging greatly in size and distance, safely and efficiently, into the Library�s custody. The work requires the transportation of materials as few as a single box to multiple box loads transported from anywhere in the United States and throughout the world. In addition to transportation, the fine arts shipper will also be required to provide packing services. The work requires a special knowledge and understanding of the packing and shipping of library materials in all formats. A prospective fine arts shipping firm must be fully bonded and insured, that its trucks are licensed, and the drivers and workers are fully trained and capable to do the job assigned. The Gift Coordinator�s Office expects that the successful contractor will assign one shipping agent to handle all Library of Congress fine arts gift transportation activities, to act as the liaison between the contractor and the Gift Coordinator�s Office, and that the agent accord all due respect and consideration when contacting Library donors in the task of arranging the transportation of gift collections.

The purpose of this amendment is to extend the due date for proposals to 3PM EST on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 to allow the offerors sufficient time to incorporate changes previously made to Section M.3.4.3. No further time extension will be allowed. No further questions will be accepted. In order to expedite the evaluation process, offerors electing to use commercial carriers are encouraged to also make electronic submissions. Offerors who have submitted their proposals prior to 12/09/09 may submit revised Section M.3.4.3 electronically.
