A Pre-Bid meeting will be held on 8 December 2009 at 0900. The meeting will be held at the Athens Ranger District Office followed by an example site visit to a prescribed burn unit. Directions from Nelsonville, OH: Head east on US Hwy 33 for approximately 5 miles. The Athens Ranger District office is on your left. Pre-Bid Meeting will be for both the Ironton Ranger District and the Athens Ranger District Hazardous Fuel Reduction Projects (AG-4419-S-10-0197 and AG-4419-S-10-0200). Approximate travel time between districts is 2 hours. Please contact Angela Mitchell, 270-924-2096 or almitchell@fs.fed.us if you plan to attend the pre-bid meeting. The only mechanized tools allowed are chainsaws, power trimmers and blowers, and hand tools such as rakes and shovels. Hand line sections are typically on steep slopes and through drainages. In areas designated for hand line we are only cleared to use the types of hand tools listed above. Seeding and mulching is a possibility as listed in the attachment(s).
