Buyer:   Strategic Environmental Assessment of Coffee Sector in Burundi
Eligibility of Bidders:   The two international consultants, with specialty in (i) environmental and social assessment and (ii) specialty coffee production and marketing, will provide lead role in analysis work for the SEA and for writing the report on environmental and coffee marketing aspects respectively.

The consultant will be able to demonstrate - through the curriculum vitae of its team (local and international) – its experience with the professional preparation of SEA/environmental assessments in different sub-sectors of the agriculture/forestry/water sector. At least 15 years of multidisciplinary experience required notably with respect to environmental/agricultural economics, environmental assessment, coffee/cash crops marketing, natural resources management, pollution control, the organization of representative public consultations, and land use changes issues. Fluency in French and English will be required. The consultant will implement the assignment together with, and in cooperation with, experienced national consultant and NGO

The objective of this activity is to carry out a strategic environmental assessment of the coffee sector reforms in Burundi. The consultant will analyse the potential environmental and social impacts of the coffee sector reforms in Burundi. The selected consultant/s will be responsible for
• An analysis of expected positive and negative impacts caused by, and risks associated with the coffee sector reforms, and proposals for alternatives and/or mitigating initiatives in the case negative impacts are anticipated.
• An assessment of the effectiveness of the current Burundi’s EIA procedures for coffee sector investments.
• A well documented stakeholder validation process
