Description

The IDIS Grants program will be established to provide funding to NSOs to enable them to deter and detect the use of illicit drugs within their elite ranks through the establishment of a Testing and Results Management program.  One of the requirements to be eligible for a Testing and Results Management grant is that NSOs use the Department of Health and Ageing endorsed Sample Collection and Analysis Agency ("the Testing Agency").

The Testing Agency will be required to undertake sample collection and analysis of samples in line with the Testing and Results Management Standards set out in the Government's Illicit Drugs in Sport National Education and Action Plan.

Compliance with the Testing and Results Management Standards will be monitored in line with a Deed of Understanding between the Department and the Testing Agency.

No funding will be provided directly to the Testing Agency as payment for services will be the responsibility of the NSO. NSO involvement in the program is voluntary and the Department will provide no commitment to the level of services that may be generated for the Testing Agency.

The athletes to be tested may be located throughout Australia and testing will be conducted at intervals as specified by the NSO in their Test Distribution Plan.  The Testing Agency must be able to service all geographic locations throughout Australia and have suitable transport connections to its laboratory services.

Sample collection and analysis must be able to be done according to the specifications outlined in the Request for Tender document.
