Description

The Department is seeking to contract for services that require specialist expertise in clinical coding and grouping of Australian admitted hospital patient information.

The successful tenderer will maintain regular contact with the Department, clinicians, clinical coders, data users, state and territory health authorities, relevant profession peak bodies and the private hospital sector in order to fulfil this role.

The Department is seeking tenders from single entities or a consortium where one entity retains single contractual responsibility to the Commonwealth.

The contract will specifically require:

Refinement of the existing ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS (7th edition) and AR-DRG (version 6) material to deliver the 2012 AR-DRG patient classification system for simultaneous release by June 2012 with education and training in the use of the 2012 system to be conducted throughout 2012-13.

Conditions for ParticipationTenderers must have an understanding of acute hospital care, as well as an understanding of the use and importance of the disease and procedure classifications and coding standards (ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS) and the AR-DRG classifications.
Timeframe for DeliveryThe anticipated contract period will commence on 31 January 2010 to 30 June 2013.
