GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE Egypt Eastern Nile Watershed Management Project Nile Water Sector Project ID No. (GEF Grant #TF 094530) The Arab Republic of Egypt has received financing in the amount of US$ 2.7 million equivalent from the World Bank toward the cost of the Eastern Nile Watershed Management Project-LakeNasser/Nubia Management Framework, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services andconsulting services to be procured under this project. This project will be jointly financedby the Global Environmental Facility /World Bank. The project goals are to assist Egypt and Sudan to: 1. Improve the quality of informationnecessary to predict sedimentationprocesses in Lake Nasser/Nubia for possible mitigation and other management measures; 2. Develop a framework to guide sustainablemanagement of Lake Nasser/ Nubia. The Project consists of the followingparts: A. Sustainable Management of LakeNasser/Nubia 1. Environmental quality monitoringcarrying out of a 4 year-program to collect and analyze biophysical (primarily sedimentation, water quality, and selectedlimnological parameters) and socio-economic data of the areas of Lake Nasser/Nubia needed to develop guidelines for integrated andsustainable management of the resources of Lake Nasser/Nubia, including provision of goods required for the purpose. Part Iof the following schedule shows list of contract packages which will be procured following ICB and direct contracting. 2. Management guidelines for sustainabledevelopment, in a participatorymanner and on the basis of data collected under Part II of the following Schedule. Themanagement framework is designed to guide the integrated and sustainable management of the resources of Lake Nasser/Nubia, in amanner that reflects an environmentally sound andequitable balance of competing uses, and with priority given to guidelines onagriculture, tourism, and fisheries; and provision of goods required for the purpose. B. Consulting services will be selected in accordance withthe World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employmentof Consultants by World Bank Borrowers(may2004).
