WORLD BANK: Call for Oil, Gas and Mining Advisors

The Oil, Gas and Mining Policy Division (COCPO) of the World Bank has received funding to establish a recipient-executed Extractive Industries Technical Advisory Facility (EI-TAF). This Facility is organized to facilitate advisory services on capacity building for the extractive industry by strengthening resource policy frameworks and contract negotiations, on a more immediate basis while broader technical assistance is being prepared. The objective is to assist resource-rich countries in correctly structuring oil, gas and mining developments and the related sector policy, thereby reducing the risk of costly or politically difficult remediation at later stages.

We are creating a consultancy pool of experts who will be available for short-term advisory services to requesting countries. We are looking for individuals or firms who have developed an expertise in mining and petroleum with at least ten to fifteen years of broad international work experience. The specific areas of expertise are in: mining or petroleum economics, law, policy, engineering, environment, social, contracts, geology, taxation, health and safety, and mineral or petroleum rights administration.

For specific information on each area and to view the knowledge and skill set required, please go to http://go.worldbank.org/NGJ46W9J80 to view the various position descriptions. Applications will be reviewed to ensure they meet the required competencies.

Applications should be sent by email citing EI-TAF in the “Subject” line to ogmc@worldbank.org by November 20, 2009
