REQUEST FOR TENDER

AusAID, the Australian Agency for International Development, manages the Australian Government’s official overseas aid program. AusAID assists developing countries to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development, in line with Australia’s national interest. AusAID is seeking highly qualified and motivated consultants to join its Economics Advisory Panel.

ECONOMICS ADVISORY PANEL – PERIOD OFFER

A rewarding opportunity exists for development practitioners who specialise in economics related areas. AusAID is establishing an Economics Advisory Panel to provide economics support services to the AusAID program over the next three years. Panelists will, as a community of economics experts, constitute an important resource for AusAID and its partners.

The Economics Advisory Panel will be divided into four technical expertise categories: Macroeconomics; Microeconomics; Trade; and Private Sector Development. The Panel will comprise approximately 40 economic advisers whose collective experience and expertise cover all four categories. Panel members will provide high quality economics-related services to country and regional programs and to AusAID organisational areas responsible for program quality and policy development. On occasion, they may be required to work as part of a team with other contractors. Panel members may be asked to undertake policy, research and analysis, capacity building and training, as well as program strategy, design, monitoring and evaluation tasks. Panel members will be contracted on an ‘as-needs’ basis.

It is anticipated that the Economics Advisory Panel will be in place by August 2010 and will continue for a minimum of three years.

Selection will be on a one step basis. The closing date for submission of proposals is 2:00pm (AEST) 15 December 2009.
