II.1) DESCRIPTION

II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): The contract
will start on the 1.4.2010, and run for a period of four years. The
requirement for banking will provide a service that will manage all the
Council's financial business through a variety of accounts. The Council
and the successful bank will develop a partnership that will deliver an
efficient value for money service to the benefit of the citizens of
Birmingham. Credit/debit card acquiring services will enable the general
receipt of income from customers by credit or debit cards. To include
processing of payments by either electronic or manual means and a
defunding mechanism to credit the Council's main bank accounts on a daily
basis. Payments will be accepted either by a cardholder present or not
present situation at numerous outlets within the Birmingham area. Future
developments of these contracts may include a loyalty card provision.
Other public sector bodies will have the option to use these contracts.
