II.1.4) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): Horse Racing
Ireland (HRI) was established under the Horse and Greyhound Racing Act,
2001. It is a commercial semi-state body that took over the functions
previously carried out by the Irish Horseracing Authority (IHA) since
1994. The IHA, in turn, replaced the Racing Board which was established in
1945.
HRI is responsible for the administration and control of Horse Racing in
Ireland. HRI subsidiaries include Irish Thoroughbred Marketing (ITM), Tote
Ireland Ltd and the HRI Racecourse Division.
Tote Ireland offers betting on horse-racing from the 25 race tracks in
Ireland and through its call centre and internet site. It is a wholly
owned subsidiary of Horse Racing Ireland.
HRI Racecourse Division owns and operates Leopardstown, Navan, Tipperary
and Fairyhouse Racecourses. Irish Thoroughbred Marketing was established
to promote Ireland as a premier source of thoroughbred horses.
HRI and subsidiaries are currently seeking suitable service providers to
tender for the provision of comprehensive insurance services across a
range of risks related to its activities and premises.
Lot 1: HRI, Tote and ITM.
Lot 2: Racecourses.
It is estimated that Lot 1 covers approx. 30 % of the overall requirement,
Lot 2 represents the balance – 70 %.
Main insurance required for Lot 1 include but are not limited to:
— employers liability,
— public liability,

— cash in transit,
— business interruption,
— travel,
— motor fleet,
— directors and officers liability,
— computer,
— professional indemnity,
— pensions trustee liability.
Main insurance required for Lot 2 include but are not limited to:
