Republic of Armenia and Metropolitan Karen Demirchyan CJSC (Yerevan Metro
Company) intend to apply for a loan from the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the total amount of EUR 5 million
to finance immediate rehabilitation needs including safety upgrades.
Yerevan Metro Company (the Company) intends to use the proceeds of the
loan towards the cost of Yerevan Metro Rehabilitation Project.
The project will require the procurement of bogies, sleepers, rail pads
and fastenings, tong rails, maintenance train, pumps, power cable and
rectifiers.
Tendering is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2009. Contracts to
be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the EBRD will be tendered in
accordance with the EBRD's Procurement Policies and Rules. The proceeds of
the EBRD loan will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons
or entities, or for any import of goods, if such payment or import is
prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken
under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law or
official regulation of the Purchaser's country.
