appraisal of regional strategies and programmes; Environmental Impact
Assessment of ERDF projects.
2) COMMON PROCUREMENT VOCABULARY (CPV): 90710000, 73200000, 90713000.
3) QUANTITY OR SCOPE: Yorkshire Forward is committed to making Yorkshire
and Humber a better place to work, live and enjoy. In particular, we want
to fulfil our potential for truly sustainable economic growth, building a
strong and stable regional economy which provides prosperity and
opportunity for all alongside environmental and social benefits. Our
vision is effectively that set out in the Regional Economic Strategy – to
make the region a great place to live, work and do business that fully
benefits from a prosperous and sustainable economy.
In working towards this vision we aim to:
Lead the transformation to a lower carbon, resource efficient regional
economy by driving forward developments in energy and low carbon
technologies and techniques; good business practice; and land management
which both protects and enhances the region’s natural assets and enhances
our environment.
Work to decouple economic growth from increasing energy and resource use,
in both individual businesses and the wider economy, through promoting
sustainable production and consumption so that we achieve more with less.
Build resilience to the impacts of, and maximizing the economic
opportunities presented by, climate change, through both adaptation and
mitigation measures.
Identify and addressing skills shortages in sustainability, both within
our own organisation and across the region, and building capacity to
enable the region to move towards sustainable economic development.
Use our statutory planning responsibilities and influence to promote a
more sustainable pattern of land use, including economic development,
housing, and transport.
Maximise the sustainability of regional strategies and their delivery as
well as in European policy and programmes. Importantly, this includes the
Yorkshire and Humber European Regional Development Fund Programme for
2007-2013, which was approved by the European Commission on 7.12.2007. It
has been developed by a strong regional partnership, including Government
Office for Yorkshire and Humber and the Yorkshire and Humber Assembly, and
outlines the broad strategic direction for investment of this EU funding
over the next 6 years. The Programme has adopted two common themes to cut
across all investments in each of the priorities: environmental good
practice and equalities and diversity. More information can be found at
http://www.yorkshire-forward.com/about/our-funding/erdf.
Yorkshire Forward is committed to achieving these aims in a way that is
underpinned by the principles set out within the UK Sustainable
Development Strategy, Securing the Future (2005): Living within
