The location is on the Ontonagon Ranger District of the Ottawa National Forest This project requires the remediation of safety hazards associated with abandoned mine openings and related work in compliance with its terms, specifications, and provisions. This includes furnishing labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals. Contractor shall be responsible for removal and disposal of any waste material generated including, but not limited to excess materials and existing barbed wire The project involves the physical closure of mine openings. Specified closure types include steel grates, with and without human access gates, and polyurethane foam plugs. Bat-friendly closure devices are required on openings identified by the Forest Service as important bat habitat. Closure devices for bats must meet specifications of Bat Conservation International (BCI), or equivalent. Materials and tools that will be used include polyurethane foam mixtures, steel beams, rebar, generator, earthen material, and other related equipment, including Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs) or snowmobiles. Closures will employ the following methods, depending upon site-specific needs: � Grates and/or gates - materials may include, rebar, round bar, tube steel, square steel or similar material. � Foam Closures - materials may include polyurethane foam, culverts, drain pipe and lid, and earthen material for cover over the foam. ****************************************************************************************************
