SECTION II: OBJECT OF THE CONTRACT
II.1) DESCRIPTION

Support to the Palestinian Public Prosecution.

performance: Services.

Main place of performance: Ramallah (Palestinian Territories).
II.1.3) The notice involves: A public contract.
II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): Since the
Public Prosecution is known to be a weak link in the criminal justice
chain in the Palestinian Territories, and the international community is
convinced that a proper functioning of the entire Rule of Law system is
elementary for a viable Palestinian state, several donors showed interest
in supporting the Public Prosecution. The Netherlands Representative
Office (NRO) has therefore agreed to work closely together with other
donors in the development of programmes to assist the Public Prosecution.
During meetings with other donors, as well as with the Office of the
Attorney General, it was agreed that NRO will focus its support to the
Public Prosecution on 2 main pillars: capacity building in six district
offices of the Public Prosecution and the professionalization of the
administrative staff of the Palestinian Public Prosecution at large. Both
components have the ultimate goal of increasing the professional capacity
of the Palestinian Public Prosecution, contributing to a professional
Prosecution service and an effective criminal justice system in the
Palestinian Territories.
