SOUTH WEST ROADS PROJECT:
WESTERN EUROPE – WESTERN CHINA INTERNATIONAL TRANSIT CORRIDOR (CAREC-1b & 6b)

Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of Road Sections

This invitation for prequalification follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business dated from January 16, 2009 on-line and in DG Market.
The Republic of Kazakhstan has received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) toward the cost of the proposed new South West Roads Project: Western Europe-Western China International Transit Corridor (CAREC 1b & 6b), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contracts for rehabilitation and reconstruction of 274 kilometers of road sections between Kyzylorda Oblast border to Shymkent city in South Kazakhstan Oblast. The project implementing agency in Kazakhstan the Ministry of Transport and Communication intends to prequalify contractors for 7 (seven) contracts for rehabilitation and reconstruction of road sections which are detailed below:
1. Contract SWRP-1807-1837-ICB(W)- 002/2009: Rehabilitation and reconstruction of 2 and 4 lanes road section between km 1807 and km 1837 (30 kms). Works will start in construction season of 2010 and is expected to last 36 months.
2. Contract SWRP-2057-2111-ICB(W)- 002/2009: Rehabilitation and reconstruction of 4 lanes road section between km 2057 and km 2111 (43 kms). Works will start in construction season of 2010 and is expected to last 36 months.
3. Contract SWRP-2111-2135-ICB(W)- 002/2009: Rehabilitation and reconstruction of 4 lanes road section between km 2111 and km 2135 (38 kms). Works will start in construction season of 2010 and is expected to last 36 months.
4. Contract SWRP-2135-2183-ICB(W)- 002/2009: Rehabilitation and reconstruction of 4 lanes road section between km 2135 and km 2138 (48 kms). Works will start in construction season of 2010 and is expected to last 36 months.
5. Contract SWRP-2183-2231-ICB(W)- 002/2009: Rehabilitation and reconstruction of 4 lanes road section between km 2138 and km 2231 (48 kms). Works will start in construction season of 2010 and is expected to last 36 months.
6. Contract SWRP-2231-2260-ICB(W)- 002/2009: Rehabilitation and reconstruction of 4 lanes road section between km 2231 and km 2260 (29 kms). Works will start in construction season of 2010 and is expected to last 36 months.
7. Contract SWRP-2231-674-ICB(W)- 002/2009: Rehabilitation and reconstruction of 4 lanes road section between km 2231 and km 674 (38 kms). Works will start in construction season of 2010 and is expected to last 36 months.
Applications may be made for prequalification for one ore more of the contracts. Applicants who indicate their interest in more than one contract shall meet summarized qualification criteria of the contracts they apply. Prequalification will be conducted through prequalification procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits (dated May 2004 Revised October 1, 2006), and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries, as defined in the guidelines.
Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information from and inspect the prequalification document at the Committee (address below) from 9:30 to 18:00 hours. A complete set of the prequalification document in English may be purchased by interested applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below, original copy of power of attorney and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of 22500 Tenge (Kazakhstan national currency) or 150 USD (original copy of bank’s receipt is required).
