This isanother update of the General Procurement Notice for the above project which was most recently published in the United NationsDevelopment Business; Issue No. 721 dated 29 February 2008. Georgiahas received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) in the amount of US$ 20.34 million equivalent towardsthe cost of the Primary Health Care Development Project. The respective Financial Agreement between Georgia and IDA has beenamended and restarted in May 20, 2009 under the current name Health Sector Development Project (Project). The Project intends toapply the proceeds of this credit to payments for goods, related services, works and consulting services to be procured under thisproject. Theinvestments supported through the Project would be part of an overall health sector reform and expected to be implemented untilDecember 31, 2010 in partnership with other key donors such as USAID and EU. TheProject consists of two components: (i) Strengthen of Primary Health Care System; and (ii) Support for Health SectorReform. The main objectives of the projectinclude: a) updating existing health facilities and regional family medicine training centers; b) strengthening the capacity of primary health care; c) provision requiredassistance for designing and implementation of an information andcommunication (IC) campaign d) capacity building of Ministry ofHealth and other relevant agencies for health policy formulation, regulation, financing and monitoring and evaluation; and e)strengthening the health management information system. The following Goods remained to be procured: (i) servers, personal computers and Lanequipment; (ii) software systems; (iii) Medical Equipment are planned to be procured under ICB procedures. Procurement of goods financed by the credit will be conducted throughthe procedures specified in the World Bank'sGuidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, May 2004 (revised in October 2006) and is open to all bidders fromeligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. SpecificProcurement Notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank's international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures will beannounced as they become available in UN Development Business and newspapers of national circulation in Georgia.
