Development and Demonstration of Pavement Friction Management Programs This is a Pre-Solicitation notice (synopsis) for a full and open competition. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has a requirement for the development and demonstration of Pavement Friction Management Programs. The Contractor shall provide staff with the expertise necessary to complete tasks, such as: � Develop methods for establishing the investigatory (desirable) level and the intervention (minimum) level for friction and macro-texture for different friction demand categories or classes of highway facilities for at least six States. � Assist at least six States to develop Pavement Friction Management Programs. � Demonstrate state of the art friction measurement equipment. � Use theoretical methods to select the best type of friction measuring devices and relate friction measurements to highway safety statistics. The RFP will be released and available electronically at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. Interested parties may register at the aforementioned site to receive a variety of procurement announcements/notifications. It is the responsibility of interested parties to monitor the FedBizOpps website for any amendments to the RFP package. NO OTHER PROCUREMENT INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

Multiple awards may be made to complete Phase I. Phase II will be awarded to one contractor as an option. Award of the option will be based on the results of Phase I of the project.
