The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center has a requirement to renovate the Ground Floor, South Wing of the Community Living Center (CLC) into a Hospice and Palliative Care (H&PC) unit. Work shall include, but is not limited to, demolition of existing finishes, installation of new finishes, plumbing modifications and additions, medical gas installation, HVAC modifications, and electrical modifications. All work shall be performed in accordance with the scope of work, renovation drawings, and the general contract specifications and requirements.The project includes modifications of various building components to improve the patient environment for use as a H&PC unit with features including: 1) modified room layout for private rooms, 2) modified bathroom layout for private bathrooms, 3) installation of new medical gases to support the H&PC unit, and 4) replacement/upgrading of existing finishes to provide a homelike environment. All work shall be performed in accordance with NFPA and other applicable national codes. Local codes, where more stringent, shall be followed where feasible and not cost prohibitive. The contractor may be instructed by VA to build to any current industry standards that deviate from VA standards if it is determined by VA that it would be in the VA's best interest to do so. All work areas shall be maintained properly clean to prevent dust and debris from interfering with hospital operations. Work will be phased to allow for continued operation of the CLC during all project activities. Immediate areas of work will be vacated and will require coordination with VA staff. All installed work (contractor supplied materials, equipment, and workmanship) shall be covered with a one-year warranty (parts and labor).All work shall be performed in accordance with the Statement of Work and drawings. THIS REQUIREMENT IS SET ASIDE FOR SERVICE-DISABLED VETERAN-OWNED SMALL BUSINESSES (SDVOSBs) UNDER PUBLIC LAW 109-461. Offerors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registry and the VetBiz Registry to receive an award. The magnitude of this project is between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00. Solicitation number VA-256-09-RP-0309 for this requirement will be released on or about July 24, 2009. The solicitation will contain the Statement of Work, drawings and information necessary to propose a price for the project. A Site Visit is tentatively scheduled on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 10:00 AM local time (see solicitation when available for details). Successful offeror will be required to provide Payment and Performance Bonds within 10 calendar days of contract award notification. Period of Performance is expected to be 90 days from the issuance of the Notice-To-Proceed.
