Republic of Serbia intends using the proceeds of a loan from the European
Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the Bank) for a project "Corridor
X Highway Project". The proposed Project's Objective is to facilitate
sustainable economic development and ensure that the country capitalizes
on its geographical position to continue its development as a key transit
country on the Trans-European Network as well as to increase transport
efficiency and improve traffic safety on sections of Corridor X, and to
improve road management and road safety in Serbia.
The Project will be carried out by the Project Implementing Entity:
Koridor 10 Limited Liability Company (CXLLC).
The total cost of the Corridor X project is estimated at € 1.3 billion.
The proposed part of the project financed by the Bank, has a total
estimated cost of €150 million, and will require the procurement of the
following works:
- Civil works on construction of motorway from Nis to Dimitrovgrad on
Corridor X, E-80, with the Bank financing covering:
- Part A1 - Section 2 from Crvena reka to Ciflik (cca 13km) and
- Part A2 - Section 4 from Pirot (East) to Dimitrovgrad (cca 16km)
Tendering for the above contracts is expected to begin in the 3rd quarter
of 2009.
Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the Bank will be
subject to the Bank's 'Procurement Policies and Rules' and will be open to
firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank's loan will not be used
for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, or for any import
of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the
United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of
the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the
Purchaser's country.
