Western Area Power Administration intends to acquire, on a brand namebasis, line hardware. The Hughes Brothers, Anderson, Reliable/Bethea and Preformed hardware items requested are direct replacement specific hardware items that were used in earlier years/stages of these multi-year upgrade projects and these units must match the existing infrastructure. Having a different hardware brand every few miles on a single transmission line segment would present multiple maintenance challenges. Having to stock multiple brands for the same piece of hardware would be an excessive burden for Westerns Warehouse function. Other brands most likely may require different types of tools and equipment for installation.
